Triple Crown Volleyball Makes History with First-Ever Youth Challenge Review System at NIT

February 10, 2026

Triple Crown Volleyball is proud to announce a historic milestone in youth volleyball: the introduction of the Challenge Review System by VolleyStation at the Triple Crown Volleyball National Invitational Tournament (NIT). This marks the first time in history that a youth volleyball tournament will provide athletes and coaches with official challenge review technology.

The Challenge Review System will be available exclusively on Court 16 throughout the entire NIT weekend, giving teams the opportunity to experience technology that mirrors the collegiate and professional game. Court 16 will befully staffed with enhanced officiating support, including a paid second referee, to ensure the process is implemented smoothly and professionally.

“This is a significant step forward for youth volleyball,” said Triple Crown Volleyball Director Jared Rudiger. “Bringing challenge review technology to NIT reinforces our commitment to innovation, competitive integrity, and providing a first-class experience for our athletes, coaches, and families.”

The system allows head coaches to challenge specific reviewable calls—such as touch, in/out, net violations, and attack line violations—using aclearly defined protocol. Each coach is allotted two challenges per set, with successful challenges retained. All reviews will be conducted on video, with final decisions made by the second referee.

As this is the first time challenge review has been used at a Triple Crown youth volleyball event, coaches and participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the official Challenge Review Protocol ahead of competition here»

By introducing this technology at NIT, Triple Crown Volleyball continues to lead the way in elevating the youth volleyball experience—preparing athletes for the next level while setting a new standard for tournament play.
