Katie Schumacher-Cawley
Assistant Coach - Penn State

Katie Schumacher-Cawley, a two-time All-American and a member of Penn State’s 1999 National Championship team, recently finished her second season as an assistant coach on the Nittany Lions' women's volleyball staff. She returned to State College after serving as a head coach for the previous nine seasons at Penn and Illinois-Chicago (UIC). 

Penn State advanced to the NCAA Regional Final in each of the two seasons that Schumacher-Cawley returned to Penn State, finishing sixth in the 2018 national rankings and seventh in 2019. Seven Nittany Lions combined for 11 All-America honors as the team went 53-14 over those two seasons.​

Aaron Smith
Head Coach - Virginia

Smith is entering his third year as head coach and eighth overall with the Cavaliers in 2019.

In his second season leading the Cavaliers, Smith guided the program's first victory over North Carolina since 2008. Virginia improved its hitting percentage on the offensive side while also posting the lowest opponent hitting percentage since 2010. In his first season as head coach in 2017, Smith guided outside hitter Sarah Billiard to an ACC All-Freshman recognition. Billiard averaged 2.84 kills per set, the ninth-highest mark by a Virginia freshman.​

Adam Hughes
Head Coach - Maryland

Adam Hughes was elevated to head coach of the Maryland volleyball program on Jan. 23, 2018. Previously the associate head coach for the Terrapins, Hughes is the fifth head coach in program history.

Hughes elevated Maryland to new heights within the Big Ten in his first year as head coach, leading the Terps to a number of program bests and firsts. In 2018, Maryland won a program-best nine Big Ten matches and the most road matches (nine) in 13 years. In addition, Hughes led Maryland to their first road win over a ranked team, defeating No. 15 Michigan on November 7, first ever win at Ohio State, and season sweeps over Ohio State, Rutgers and Iowa. Hughes coached Maryland's first ever First Team All-Big Ten performer, Erika Pritchard, who led the conference in kills per set and Maryland's first ever three-time Big Ten Player of the Week, Allegra Rivas, who took home the defensive award three times. Guiding the young team, featuring 10 underclassmen, Maryland notched 18 wins and set the XFINITY Pavilion attendance record on November 17 agaisnt No. 7 Wisconsin, welcoming in 1,848 fans. ​

Sara Matthews
Head Coach - Delaware

Sara Matthews, a rising star in the collegiate coaching ranks who has earned the reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters, will enter her third season as the University of Delaware volleyball head coach in 2019. 

Matthews, a standout player at James Madison and Kansas, served the last two seasons as an assistant coach at TCU and has also previously served on the staffs at USC and West Virginia.​
